Getting Rid of Dust and Keeping it Out
A dusty environment is not a healthy one and should be tended to as soon as possible. Living or working in a dust-filled home or office and cause people to feel uncomfortable and nauseous.
1. Vacuum carpets and floors regularly, at least once a week, more often is we are looking at a high-traffic area. For vacuuming use a vacuum with a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. HEPA filters can remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles. Keep vacuum bags, filters, seals and gaskets in good repair to prevent fine dust from being blown back into the air as you vacuum. Put used vacuum filters in a bag and close it tightly before discarding. Try to avoid touching the filters with your hands.
2. Keep all surfaces dust free. This includes furniture, decorations, lights, ceiling-fans, and any other household item where dust may accumulate. Feathered dusters are not an ideal mechanism as they mostly just spread the dust around. Use an anti-static cleaning wipe or simply a damp cloth. Finish wood surfaces with polishing spray
Now that you have an idea of getting rid of the dust here is how you can stop it from getting in your home or business in the first place.
-Place walk off mats or area rugs at each entryway to collect dirt and grit that might be tracked in. Walk-off mats are usually nylon or olefin with a rubber or vinyl back for inside the door, and rubber or vinyl-backed synthetic turf for outside use
-Make sure all doors and windows seal tightly.
