Taking Care of Your Washing Machine

Sometimes we forget that the cleaning machine itself needs to be cleaned and maintained. Washing machines go through a lot, inside and out. It is important to keep them clean so they in turn can clean your fabrics to their highest potential.

First off, wipe down the top, front, and sides of the machine. Some solutions can damage the outside material and should be wiped immediately after spill. Do not apply chemical like stain removers and rust removers near the control panel. One in a while, let the washing machine do a quick wash with no clothing inside. Pour in some bleach to kill all bacteria.

Now that you have a clean washing machine lets talk about how you can maintain it. Turn off hot and cold water faucets going to the tub when not in use. This will prevent water pressure strain on hoses. You are also advised to check that hoses are not kinked or bent. You you haven’t used hot water in an while (2+ week), let the hot water run in the faucets before using the washing machine. If there is to be no heat in the building during cold weather, drain the washer. Follow these step and you will be a champ at taking care of your washing machine!
