Cleaning Up Nail Polish Stains
Cleaning Up Nail Polish Stains
If you do your own nails there is always the possibility that a spill will occur. It is smart to stay away from expensive fabrics and furniture, as well as covering the surface you will be working at with paper towel or newspaper. If a nail polish accident does occur, follow this tips to clean up the toughest nail polish stains.
Nail Polish Remover-Acetone
Just like this substance works wonders at getting nail polish off your nails, it should do the same when cleaning up nail polish stains on hard surfaces. Apply the acetone to the nail polish stain and blot. Do not use this method on fabrics. Most nail polish remover is made with acetone (which is not an acid, but is a very good solvent for markers). Acetone will bleach the fabric, but additionally if the clothing/fabric is made with any man-made fibers it may also eat through the fabric! After your done blotting, apply detergent and warm water to make sure that you have removed the stain completely and then wash as usual with your detergent. You may have to apply the nail polish remover and blot several times to remove all of the nail polish stain. Your nail polish stain should be gone in no time!
