Whether you own a vacation house and you want to keep it spic-and-span as you will be away for the next couple of months, or you simply want it to be as presentable as possible for rental purposes, this article provides you with some very useful vacation house cleaning tips that are sure to leave both you and your guests impressed. Without further ado, here goes:

  1. Don’t wash your windows on a sunny day. While it seems to make sense to wash your windows on a sunny day so that they dry faster, this is actually a no-no. This is because the windows will dry very quickly which will likely lead to streaking. Having said that, do your window washing on a day that is overcast. You can make a solution with two ounces of vinegar, twenty ounces of water, and a couple of drops of dishwashing soap. Use a microfiber cloth in place of a sponge so that the windows are merely coasted and splashed down with cleaning solution.
  2. Go easy on the scrubbing. While stains are annoying and you want to exert as much effort as possible on removing them from your carpet, sofa or what have you, this may not actually help if you end up scrubbing harder than you should. What you need to do is pick up a reliable cleaner and gently dab it onto the stain using a cloth. The key is to be as gentle as possible. This will get rid of the stain without creating any additional damage.
  3. Spray furniture polish on your cleaning cloth instead of the table. While there are no actual statistics to prove this, it’s a given that most people spray furniture polish all over the table instead of on the cloth. But the truth is that it’s much more practical to spray it on the cloth as you will have to do less buffing, using less product, and avoiding the nasty build-up that comes with using excessive polish.

Of course, if you encounter a stain that is just too difficult for you to remove by yourself, you can always hire a professional cleaning service to do the job for you.
